Cyanotype Workshop
This workshop teaches the cyanotype process with a digital twist. Cyanotype printing is an alternative process that dates from 1842 and does not require a darkroom, just sun, a negative, and some water. Participants will learn the basics of contact printing and go home with a cyanotype and toned cyanotype print of their photograph. The workshop will demonstrate the cyanotype process from coating the paper to toning the final print. Participants will experiment with photograms, make prints from their own negative, and learn how to produce a digital negative.
Participants must email a TIF, RGB color file (dpi at 350, sized to 8x10) to the instructor prior to the class for their negative. Feel free to email any questions to the instructor prior to the class. All skill levels welcome. It’s a good idea to wear clothes you won’t worry about it they get splashed, and plan to pack a lunch or visit a local bistro. This class is limited to 10 students
